Course Overview - UNDERSTANDING THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF LOCAL REAL ESTATE involves both the history of a community and the history of legislation affecting properties. This class will review the historical events that helped create the greater Bay Area and then focus in on more recent developments including both subdivisions and land use. The DRE has added on line tools that are both readily accessible and which can help us identify critical elements of most common interest developments. Finally, the Mills Act will be directly addressed as this is an area few appraisers know about. It is regarded by many as the single most important economic incentive program in CA for the restoration and preservation of qualified historic building by private property owners.
