Registration is closed. We will send instructions out shortly for joining the class on Zoom. Prior to the class, we will provide a copy of the Excel workbook and user instructions.

This class will discuss ways to analyze and visualize residential real estate data to help understand and describe market conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will discuss:

  • Residential real estate data basics including Big Data, history, trends, and impacts to lending
  • How to start thinking like a data analyst, and
  • Data analysis tools

Most of the class will be spent reviewing the REAA Covid Trends Microsoft Excel workbook, provided as part of your registration, along with instructions to go with the workbook. The REAA Covid Trends workbook contains bi-monthly analysis tables and graphs, monthly tables and graphs, plus the ability to run your own analysis for custom dates. The workbook is unlocked and can be modified to fit your needs and style. It reports on:

  • New listings
  • Pending sales
  • Taken off market
  • Closed sales, and
  • Days on market

To use the workbook, and gain actual value from the class, you must have a copy of Microsoft Excel 2007 or later. You should have basic Excel skills to use the workbook and need to be able to copy/paste data into an Excel workbook and a willingness to learn if necessary. You will need to set up a custom export with your MLS to use the workbook which will be discussed in the class.

Your instructors are Brian Melsheimer, REAA Sacramento Vice President, and Joe Lynch, REAA Sacramento Past President.
